As a proud military wife made a mother by destiny, I soon realized the career I originally aspired for in nursing wasn’t aligning well with our growing family and my husband’s military commitment.

My heart’s desire for a supportive environment for my husband and nurturing care for my children led me to spearhead my journey in the business world.

Being a key cornerstone in our military family, I experienced firsthand the constancy of emotional challenges and the endeavor to maintain relationships throughout the ebbs and flows of distance. It was more than mere materialism; it was an embodiment of warmth, love, and thoughtfulness from loved ones who couldn’t physically stand by us.

These simple, yet meaningful gestures sparked an idea and hence my business journey initiated, fuelled by the desire to bring convenience to service members and their families across the globe. The path wasn’t smooth. Right when the foundation of my business was beginning to strengthen, my husband had to embark on back-to-back deployments.

Drawing strength from love and resiliency, I’ve turned these challenges into a humble and compassionate business, centered around hand-curating high-quality and worthy gift sets. After spending a decade as a Navy spouse and having a background in the medical device industry…

I found the perfect opportunity to launch Sweet Blooms Confectionery when our youngest began school. My passion for baking has been nurtured since childhood, inspired by watching both of my grandmothers in the kitchen.

The mission of Lost River Lavender is to make original, handmade products that are created with home-grown organic ingredients. The goods are designed to celebrate military life and to honor service members their families. My background is in agriculture, art, and photography!

Lost River Lavender provides me the opportunity to combine my passions and educational background. I create and design all the elements of our products and photograph them. When my husband was in ROTC at Utah State, he could not find anyone who would hire him. He was a non-traditional student who entered the Air Force at 32. The only place he could get a job was at a lavender farm up the street from us. He worked as a farm hand during the week, and then we would sell the products at the local market on Saturdays.

This began my love of lavender. I knew someday I wanted to have my own lavender farm. When we received our first base assignment, I was able to begin my dream of farming and have kept it alive at various degrees at base housing, suburbs, and homes where we have had a bit of acreage! My business has allowed be to bring military spouses together during harvest time and to host school field trips where the students get to learn about pollinators and environmental heath. I have loved bringing communities together and sharing my love of lavender along the way.

My name is Lenea (like Renee but with an L) and I am the owner of Grace Under Fire, LLC.

I am a stay-at-home and wanted to create something to give back to the spouse community with cute apparel and care packages.

When I relaunched my business in early 2024, the name was different, and I had no idea where I was going to go with it. But God had other plans.

The name “Grace Under Fire” has special meaning to me. My family and I have endured some pretty intense hardships over the past few years but no matter what we have not let it bring us down, rather we pushed through. A few years ago, I almost succumbed to Postpartum Depression and since then I regave my life to God and haven’t looked back.

2 Corinthians 2:8 says, ” We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair” and that is where the name “Grace Under Fire” came from. Having grace even through the hardship and torments.

That is the heart of my brand, to bring that same hope to those who are going through hard times, trials, and tribulations.

After transitioning out of the military, I found coping with the significant financial impact of leaving the military service challenging.

My husband and I worked together as civilians to learn how to manage our finances after his retirement. Being able to manage our finances successfully and becoming debt-free led me to start my own business to help other military veterans achieve their financial goals and successfully transition out of the military to live the life they deserve.

As a black female veteran, I’m passionate about being a role model and mentor to those who may not have easy access to financial information and resources. Guiding individuals before they reach a financial breaking point is crucial.

The mission of Harris Financial Coaching is to encourage, counsel, and educate others to understand and be able to handle their financial situations.

Christina Boensel, Shannon Felgar, and Kristen Benslay teamed up to create a resource that would help their families understand their upcoming PCS moves while stationed together in Japan.

Along with all being Navy spouses, Christina is a veteran, Shannon is a teacher, and Kristen is an illustrator. Together, they used their many talents to create a resource that entertains, yet also informs and acts as a starting point for important conversations within a military family about the life change that is a military move.

In 2017 my husband and I were gearing up for a cross-country move with the Navy.

I had just finished my pre-requisites for nursing school but was waiting to apply anywhere until we got to our new duty station.

My husband, being the wise man that he is, bought me a “cutting machine” as a gift. He knew that it’s not good when I’m bored and if I didn’t have a new hobby when we got to Lemoore bored is exactly what I’d be.

A friend and I each cut a couple stencils out and painted those designs on to doormats for ourselves. When my neighbor on base saw this she said “you should do squadron logos!”

And that’s how it all begun! A nursing degree, license, and two kids later I don’t hand paint the designs anymore. I have them printed by a professional for a cleaner product. BUT, I do design them all myself and that had always been my favorite part.

I’ve since branched out into stickers and plan on expanding into more decor items for the home that stick to the aviation theme. I love creating these unique pieces and get so many compliments on them 😊

The subject matter of my work is easier to explain. I attended my first airshow at just months old and an obsession was born. My path was clear and I would end up serving in Army Aviation, supporting air operations for Army helicopters.

I have always been a lover of Disney, The Wizarding World and traveling to the most beautiful destinations. I had been traveling since I was child and loved every second of it, especially the food! When I moved to California for college I basically LIVED at Disneyland and had already been visiting Walt Disney World and Universal Studios since I was young child. I was hooked, so much so that I helped others around me navigate their way around the parks. My very first book I ever finished cover to cover was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s stone so when Universal opened up their little piece of the Wizarding World, I had to immerse myself in this experience and it only furthered my passion for the world and helping others enjoy their time.

I have always been that “Disney bestie”, “Harry Potter expert”, “go to gal” and “hey she knows about traveling” person for my family, friends and beyond. One day one of my best friends told me I should be getting paid for the amount of help I give to others and I thought she was crazy until she said “no this is a job; you can get paid to help people plan their vacations!” I had NO idea, I knew travel agents existed but travel agents specializing in Disney, Universal and other adventures, I NEVER knew was a thing. Courtney and I (Suzanne) are both military spouses. Both of us had spent years being support personnel for small businesses, changing jobs every time our duty station changed. Concho Consulting is our way of taking our experiences and first, sharing it with the world, but second (and more selfishly) having something that’s our and we can take it with us when we move.

A lot of people ask why we’re called Concho Consulting. We wanted a name that meant something to us. We met at Goodfellow Air Force Base in San Angelo, TX located in the Concho Valley. Our husbands are different branches, but our duty stations have been eerily similar: East Coast, Florida, Overseas, Texas.
