What type of materials can be used for an Heirloom handbag?
- Dress Uniform
- Trench Coat
- Wool Blanket
- Duffle Bag
- Flight Suit
- First Responder Uniform
- Pilot/Flight Attendant Uniform
What part of my handbag will be made from my Heirloom materials?
The outside shell will be made from your Heirloom materials. All liners will be our classic black and white stripe. For the leather portion of your handbag, you will have the option of black or brown leather trim used in our signature handbags.
How should I prepare my material before sending it in?
Please remove all name tapes, ribbons or insignia that you do not wish to be on the handbag. We recommend that you keep all buttons on the uniform if you would like to incorporate them in the final product.
Please make sure materials are properly cleaned before sending off your Heirloom materials. We suggest sending in your materials for dry cleaning. We cannot accept materials that are not clean and in good condition. Materials that are torn, or damaged could affect the integrity of the final product.
Where do I mail my Materials?
Once you have received your items back from the dry cleaners or feel they are satisfactory please package your materials in a poly bag to ensure if there are any mishaps during shipping they remain in a water resistant container.
Please put into a safe box of your choosing and seal well with packaging tape. It is VERY IMPORTANT to include your order number in and on the box. This is how we are identifying your materials for the production process.
You should choose the speed and carrier of your choice, but please add insurance and retain the tracking number

Can I make changes or cancel my order?
Once our team receives your materials the process for crafting begins and the order may not be canceled. We will consider your materials “received” on the date the tracking information lists delivered.
Can I specify if I want R. Riveter to use specific parts of the uniform on my bags?
Our team is committed to making sure your Heirloom handbag is the highest quality. We have been upcycling and curating pieces like this one for many years and have learned where each type of textile and material perform the best as we create your bag to function and serve you for years to come.
We will ask you if you like lots of embellishments, or to keep it subtle. Lots of embellishments means that we will use pockets and pieces of the uniform to make it look more like the original item where possible. Classic means that we will use the material but will leave out the original uses of the material, such as pockets or buttons, making the bag look more like our signature handbags on our website.
What happens to my material after the bag is made?
After the assembly of your Heirloom handbag, we will have used much of the material and will recycle or dispose of the remainder. If you think you want more products out of it, you must purchase those additional items during the checkout process on the same order so that we can use that in the consumption of your material. If you buy one bag, we are going to use the best part of the material for one item. If you buy two items, we will do our best to utilize the material to stretch across two items.
