Description
There Are 3 Main Themes
Personal Responsibility & Accountability
When teaching a child about their body parts, you can say things like, “You’re the Boss Of Your Hands! Keep them in your lap, please!” Or, “Be a good Boss Of Your Mouth, and keep it closed right now. Thank you!” Pointing out a child’s behavior in real-time gets real results!
This is NOT kids being BOSSY! We’re still in charge! LOL
When children are NOT being Good Bosses of Themselves and making bad choices a Safe Grownup will have to step in and Be the Boss of Them! We give the little ones the power to make good choices and be Good Bosses, but at the end of the day, if they aren’t being Good Bosses of Themselves, a Safe Grownup will take over the situation.
Diversity & Inclusion
“If you can SEE it you can BE it!”
We want EVERY child to see themselves somewhere in this book. Even if it is just their toes, their hands, their hair or their eyes! Maybe they identify as a cat… Let them see themselves and be a GREAT Boss of Their Body and Body Parts!
Why is “If you can SEE it you can BE” it important?
“That Boss looks like Me!” While little ones have FABULOUS imaginations, they don’t always know how Boss-Some they truly can be! So if they can SEE an example of a Great Boss that they can identify with, they can realize that they CAN actually BE the BEST Boss of Themselves in the world that surrounds them!
Body Safety & Autonomy
If our Little Ones are Bosses of Their Body, they will feel empowered to say, “I don’t want you to touch me.” And this is the first part of Body Safety & Autonomy that ALL children (and some grownups) need to learn. Personal space and who can & can’t touch you and how is IMPORTANT!
You can never be TOO safe!
It’s important to explain to your little one WHO is a safe person. Make sure they feel safe to tell YOU if someone is not respecting their body space or touching them after they’ve been told not to. Unfortunately, it can be someone YOU trust, so listen to your wee ones and let them be the Boss of Their Body. Normalize talking about this
