Description
Labradorite is often called the “Stone of Magic” because of its ability to reflect brilliant flashes of color, known as labradorescence. The stone was first discovered in the late 18th century on the Labrador Peninsula in Canada, which is how it got its name. In Inuit legends, labradorite is believed to have fallen from the frozen fire of the Aurora Borealis. It is thought to contain the northern lights, giving it its mystical qualities.
